Can’t find it make it..Black Halo famous for her Jackie O dress and this Mod gem

This mod dress is an eye-catching pattern of color and design. A corseted, sweetheart neckline, body conscious and relatively modest. A heady combination for a night out.  The dress comes from LA Designer, Laurel Berman, founder of BLACK HALO. Best known for the Jackie O  dress.  Shout out to another woman that created based on necessity and impacted so many.

Cheers

Love of Clothing

It is as simple as that. Clothing allows us to express ourselves…
How we are feeling?  Confident? Defiant or professional today? Clothing allows us freedom to try out a different persona for a day or an evening… I am going to always be upfront and honest. I have an eBay store where I sell clothing. That is NOT why I started this blog. This blog was started to document some of the AMAZING items I have came across. Sure, some of the posts will have links to purchase but most document the treasures I have came across. I wanted to have a “Lookbook”, if you will, of the items and their histories. Only if some of these garments could talk.

Now if you are not a fashion addict this will put you to sleep. For the rest of us, let’s share the wonderful information and finds. Though my extensive background includes retail, buying and manufacturing I AM NOT and do not profess to be an expert in fashion, clothing or clothing history. The majority of what I post has been gathered from other clothiers, before me, who generously paid it forward and shared their knowledge. All the information I have gathered from others will contain hyperlinks to their site. Everything else is MY opinion. No doubt I will make mistakes with gathered information. I am open to your constructive, kind feedback and corrections.
Let’s Frock On together 🙂

TIMELESS STYLE

TIMELESS STYLE

Struck me how these dresses are decades apart and still timeless. A beautiful 100% Silk, Proenza Schouler shift dress. What caught my attention aside from the amazing heavier silk material was the pattern. I found the same collection dress from Neiman Marcus and the pattern was described as “Marble”. To me it looks like the creation of a galaxy… a dark background with magnificent color bursts. Doing research on the brand Proenza Schouler, from their website, I discovered a New York based womenswear and accessory brand founded in 2002. The design team consists of Jack McCullough and Lazaro Hernandez who met at none other than Project Runway’s show locale, Parsons school of design. The name hails from each designers Mom’s maiden name. Their first collection was their thesis….the label was snatched up by Barney’s. The rest is history…

Going back to decades old clothing in pristine condition… This gem of a find is a vintage dress from USA manufacturer RiteFit Dresses. I was able to date this dress to approximately 1955 thanks to SammyDVintage for providing Union Label information on her website.
